We’re United For WA

Our candidates are workplace delegates, union activists, and everyday members who share one thing in common: a commitment to building a stronger union for you.

Western Australia North

These are the delegates, members and activists who are standing up for UWU members across Western Australia North. They come from your workplaces and your industries. They know the challenges you face because they face them too.

They're ready to fight for a union that wins for you, picks up the phone when you need help, and puts more money in your pocket.

Meet Your Team

Dave Jallah

Disability Support Worker | Western Australia North

  • I have been a UWU member for 7 years and work as a Disability Support Worker at AbilityWA. I joined because I believe as workers we deserve fairness, respect and a strong voice together. Being a union member means I am not alone - we stand together, protecting our rights and building better conditions for everyone. Outside work, I have been involved in politics and am a devoted husband, father and grandfather, passionate about volunteering, mentoring, and strengthening local communities.

  • The union stood by me and my coworkers when our hours were reduced, our workload increased, and our income dropped. They helped us recover back pay and protect our weekend rates, fighting to make sure we were treated fairly. I am standing to fight for fair conditions and represent the voices of disability support workers and the people we serve. I want to be a strong voice for my community and make sure everyday people are represented in the decisions that shape our future.
I am supporting United For You because it prioritises the needs and voices of all members and I believe it works in the interest of all to achieve positive outcomes with the people.

Pat O'Donnell

Director of Member Engagement | Western Australia North

  • I joined the union 23 years ago as a security officer at the Casino in Perth and became a workplace delegate. I witnessed firsthand the power of workers uniting. I helped improve staffing levels, secured on call pay during breaks, and unionised the security team in preparation for bargaining. In 2008, I became a union official, and in 2013, Assistant Secretary for WA, leading campaigns in hospitality, manufacturing, cleaning, and security.

  • As Director of Member Engagement, I am proud to be part of a team that has assisted over 40,000 members a year in joining the union and provides expert advice and support to over 25,000 members annually.
Members need a union ready for the challenges of the future, not stuck in the past.

Eliana Moreno

School Cleaner | Western Australia North

  • I've been a UWU member for 10 years and work as a cleaner at Carine Senior High School in the Public Sector. I first joined the union because I wanted to make sure I had support if I had any issues at work. I knew that with the union I would be able to know my rights and ensure I was treated fairly. Being part of the union also means being part of something bigger, where workers stand together and support each other. Being a union member means a great deal to me. I arrived in Australia with very little English 13 years ago, and my job at Carine Senior High School was my first proper job in Australia. At times I felt powerless because my knowledge of my rights here was limited, and I knew that with the union I would have support. That is what being in the union means to me, being part of a collective that supports and helps you when you feel alone. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, and I am passionate about my community. One thing I want members to know about me is that I am running because I genuinely want every co-worker to see how strong we can be when we stand together.

  • Over the years I have really appreciated being able to call the union and get assistance when I need it. It has made me feel like the union has always been there for me. The Member Rights Team is a resource that is very important for all members, because it ensures we have support and someone to stand with us when issues arise at work. After 10 years of being a union member, I feel it is time to contribute and ensure the union continues to support members and future members. I want to play a role in strengthening our collective voice and making sure the decisions we make reflect the needs and experiences of workers on the ground. This term I want to help every co-worker see how strong we can be together. I'll push for more digital strategies and social media use, create groups, and run activities that engage and teach new workers. I also want targeted communications in different languages, especially for migrant workers, so everyone can understand what the union is and how powerful we can be when we stand together. I am running with United For You because I want to make sure our union works for everyone, especially new and migrant workers who don't always get the information or support they need.

Catalina Gonzalez

Director of Aged Care | Western Australia North

  • I became a union member over twenty-five years ago and immediately I felt like I had found a home. As a child, I migrated from Colombia with my mom, who was a single mom, and I got to see how difficult it was for her to enter the workforce. The kinds of abuses she suffered in the workplace, how the boss thought that because she was new to the country, because she had very little English, they could take advantage of her, how they overworked her, how they underpaid her. That really inspired me as I joined the workforce to join the union and eventually to start working for the union to ensure that no one felt and had to deal with the kind of abuses that my mom had to go through. I have really dedicated my life to doing that.

  • I have seen firsthand how powerful it has been to have a union that is able to innovate and use lots of different levers to win. I have seen the importance of the union having political power. I have seen the importance of having involved delegates that drive campaigns, speak up, talk to politicians, talk to the media, meet with bosses, and take action. We need a union that is a fighting union, a strategic union, a union that is responsible with members' money, and a union that wins. I believe in a union that is not stuck in the past. I believe in a union that understands bosses are not who they used to be years ago, that we need to use every tool to fight the boss, including our political power, being smart with technology, and engaging with workers in digital spaces. At the same time, still taking action, representing members, and ensuring members get all the services they need. The union should be in every space and using every single strategy available to win for workers.

Kath Gascoyne

Education Assistant | Western Australia North

  • I've been a UWU member for 13 years and work as an Education Assistant Lead at Hedland Senior High School. I have always believed in being a union member to have a fairer, safer workplace that unites colleagues and demands better working conditions. Being a union member means having a collective voice to speak up for workers, improving conditions and upholding workers' rights. Outside of work I am family focused, an avid sports lover, a nature photographer and a tragic AFL supporter. I also advocate for inclusivity and understanding within the disability sector. One thing I want members to know about me is that I am a firm believer in keeping the bastards honest.

  • In 2015, standing together against "emperor" Colin showed me what members can achieve when they fight as one. I am standing for election to represent and advocate for my colleagues, committed to building a stronger union and upholding the values of fairness, inclusion, democracy and solidarity that United Workers Union represents across multiple industries. I want to contribute towards building a member-led union that displays integrity, fairness, unity and dedication to its members. I am supporting United For You because they have successfully led the campaign up to the front door of parliament to secure better working conditions within health, education, early childcare and aged care. I want to see better economic management for members with a united leadership that consistently delivers for members.

Dominic Rose

UWU National Political Coordinator | Western Australia North

  • I've been a UWU member for 18 years and currently work for the United Workers Union as National Political Coordinator. I joined the union because of my dad. As a school cleaner whose job was privatised by the Liberals, this union fought tooth and nail to get him and his colleagues back in-house. I will forever be indebted to the union for looking after my dad. Being a union member means you care about your fellow human beings. Whether in the workplace or community, being union means you are dedicated to fairness and justice for people, even if you don't know them. Outside of work, my life is completely consumed by trying to be the dad my 14-month-old daughter Iris deserves, and the husband my wife Marije deserves. Also, go you bloody Freo Dockers. The one thing I want members to know about me is that it is the greatest honour and privilege of my life to come to work for them every day. I truly appreciate the trust and opportunity they have placed in me to build a better workplace, industry and community with them.

  • I'm standing for election as a convention delegate because our union needs a leadership team that is completely dedicated to its members, and I will fight for that. I want to make sure we seize the opportunities we have. Members deserve a real plan from the union, not just jumping from fight to fight. I'm supporting United For You because it is the only group with the experience and values our union needs to win.

Lieshia Green

AIEO and Cultural Advisor | Western Australia North

  • I've been a UWU member since November 2021 and work as an Advanced AIEO and Cultural Advisor in public sector education. I first joined the union because I was unsure about my role and Agreement, and at the time my boss was doing things that didn't align with my JDF and agreement. Being a union member means a lot to me, as the union has helped me gain knowledge and I can now help other Aboriginal workers in their roles and be the voice for my First Nations people. Outside of work I have two sons and I'm involved in volunteering in their sports, and I also do language classes in the community. One thing I want members to know about me is that I am a proud Noongar woman who believes in union and in all of us standing together.

  • A moment that stands out for me was when we had union out helping and communicating with the school. Since then, it feels less stressful and there is more understanding in the workplace. I am standing as a candidate because I believe in union work. The union played a big part in helping the AIEO JDF change in the department, and I want to help other members now. I want to achieve rights, pay and fairness for fellow members. The United For You team has supported me and AIEOs, and I want to support them. When AIEOs needed help, the United for You team were our voice. I can be a voice for members now.

Les Brigden

School Gardener | Western Australia North

  • I'm Les Brigden and I've been a school gardener in the Perth metro area for many years. I have been a UWU delegate for over 20 years, a previous member organiser, and a member of the education bargaining team for the last five EBAs. I joined the union and have stayed because we need our union to continue to be a strong and viable one. Being a union member means being part of something that delivers real wins for working people.

  • I'm standing in this election because we need our union to continue to be a strong and viable one. As a union we have had major wins across a wide variety of industries in recent years. We need to ensure that our union is in a position to continue to show up and represent members at all levels, and continue to make significant gains for all of us well into the future. I am proud to support United For You because they are the team that can deliver that.

Lobang Choden

Carer, Aged Care | Western Australia North

  • I've been a UWU member and currently work as a carer at BaptistCare and Aegis in Acacia, in the aged care industry, where I serve as a delegate. I first joined the union to get support and protection at the workplace. Being a union member means knowing my rights at work and always being protected. One moment that stands out is when we got backpay from my worksite and got to know our rights. Outside of work I love to go out with my family and friends for holidays and shopping. One thing I want members to know about me is that I am very strong and can fight for and support members' rights.

  • I am standing for election because I want to represent my co-workers and stand as their voice so our concerns are heard. I want all members to feel confident that their concerns are taken seriously and acted on. United For You has always supported me and because of United For You I secured my visa through a labour agreement. I am proud to support United For You and want to make sure our union works for everyone.

Lisa Judge

UWU Coordinator Public Sector | Western Australia North

  • I've been a UWU member for 2 years and work as a Coordinator for the Public Sector section at UWU. I joined my union on my very first day of work at 13 and 9 months old, on the tills in a supermarket. I have stayed because in every job, my union has given me a voice to make work better that I never would have had on my own. Being a union member means standing shoulder to shoulder to win real change, not just for us but for the next generation. It means organising with discipline and courage so no one, from the biggest site to the smallest, is left to fight alone. Outside of work I practise my negotiating skills in my toddler's life and enjoy the kind of quiet life that comes from secure and safe work. One thing I want members to know about me is that I don't just like to fight. I like to win. I believe in solidarity, but I also believe in strategy, discipline and doing the hard work that turns courage into wins.

  • From the time I joined the workforce until 2021, the wages of public sector workers were capped by state and federal wages policies. It seemed like it would always be that way. But UWU members, organised in a strong national union, refused to accept that those policies were permanent. In 2022 we broke wages caps across the country and raised wages for millions of workers. I'm standing for election to build a union where working people shape the future, not just react to it. I want to achieve outcomes that matter: protecting jobs, improving pay and conditions, and ensuring safe, respectful workplaces. I'm supporting United For You because the world is changing fast and working people deserve a union that rises to meet that challenge. We need unionism that is not just strategic, but bold enough to shape the future in our interests.

Naomi Canham

Education Assistant | Western Australia North

  • I've been a UWU member for 11 years and work as a Special Needs Education Assistant at Alkimos College in the education sector, where I serve as a workplace delegate. I joined the union for better pay and working conditions, and to be able to support others who may not be able to negotiate or represent themselves. Being a union member means having the collective power to bargain for higher wages, improved working conditions and job security. It means having a voice in negotiations, and investing in mine and my colleagues' careers. Originally from country Victoria, my husband and I moved to WA in 2011. I have been married for 23 years and have a 22-year-old daughter who has recently made us grandparents to our first granddaughter, which has been an incredible new chapter for our family. Outside of work I love cooking, gardening and travelling. Family is everything to me. My heart is fullest when we are all home together creating new traditions and memories. Connections, loyalty and care are something I carry into every part of my life. One thing I want members to know about me is that I genuinely care. I believe in our union and in its power to protect and uplift working people, and I am committed to helping build a culture of trust, strength and unity.

  • After being asked to attend work for whole-school professional learning on our last day of vacation leave, to use it as a trade-off for the last day of the school year, the union stepped in and advised the principal they were required to pay education assistants their entitled 2.5 times their hourly rate. This particular year the education assistants who attended were paid accordingly. Now no education assistants are required to attend three days of professional learning at the beginning of the school year. I'm standing as a convention delegate because our union belongs to its members. Our voices deserve to be heard loud and clear and respected at every level. I believe deeply in transparency, accountability and making decisions that put members first. This term I want to strengthen transparency and accountability in how our union operates so members always feel confident in the decisions being made on their behalf, with clear communication, greater member engagement and opportunities. I'll be voting United For You because they represent a fresh commitment to integrity, strong governance and a clear focus on the real issues that face working people. Our union is strongest when members have confidence in how it is run and where it is headed.

Rigden Wangmo

UWU Organiser | Western Australia North

  • I've been a UWU member for 4 years and work as a Lead Organiser at UWU. I first joined the union to protect my workplace rights and get support if I faced issues at work. Being a union member means always being protected and knowing my rights. One moment that stands out is when we got backpay after I attended delegate training. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and travelling and exploring new places. One thing I want members to know about me is that I am a very strong candidate who will fight for members' rights.

  • I am standing to support all members, improve workplace conditions, and make sure member voices are heard. I want all members to feel confident that their concerns are taken seriously. United For You only hears your voice, and I am proud to support United For You because it is the team that delivers for members.

Sagar Giri

Disability Support Worker | Western Australia North

  • I've been a UWU member for 4 years and work as a Disability Support Worker at Rocky Bay in Maylands, in the disability sector, where I serve as a workplace delegate. I first joined the union in 2023 because I knew the union would support me as a disability support worker. Being a union member means power, the power to get better outcomes in the workplace but also in my community. Outside of work I enjoy time with my family and community. One thing I want members to know about me is that I am committed to this role and ready to fight for members.

  • I want our union to continue delivering the best for our members and to be a union that is strong for the future. This term I want more power for care sectors like disability, because there is so much work to do. I know United For You is the experienced and steady team that delivers for us as members. Only United For You can deliver for the needs of members.

Satish Kafley

Patient Support Assistant | Western Australia North

  • I've been a UWU member for 4 years and work as a Patient Support Assistant at Fremantle Hospital in the Public Health industry, where I serve as a workplace delegate. I joined the union for support, and being a union member means unity and supporting each other. A moment that stands out for me was on 16 December 2025, when management cancelled all visa holders' contracts. The union showed the real power of unity in standing up for workers in that moment. Outside of work I enjoy time with family and community.

  • I want to support our members to work with dignity and respect at our workplaces. I am standing for election because our members deserve that. I'm proud to support United For You.

Sonam Dendup

Carer, Aged Care | Western Australia North

  • I've been a UWU member since 2020 and work as a carer at Inglewood Brightwater Aged Care. I joined the union as a member because it helps to secure my job and get better pay. Being a member helps me to know my rights at the workplace and to have a strong voice where I work. At my workplace the union helped us in getting our right pay rate and also helped in terms of our fixed roster. Outside of work I am usually engaged with sports. One thing I want members to know about me is that everything is good and I am ready to work hard for you.

  • I want to stand for strong and real change. This term, I want to ensure members have a strong voice. I am supporting United For You to achieve real change and provide a strong voice for members.

Jacqueline Dales

Education Assistant Lead | Western Australia North

  • I've been a UWU member for more than 20 years and work as an Education Assistant Lead at Durham Road School, where I serve as a workplace delegate and am part of the EBA negotiation team. When I first started working for the Education Department, wages and conditions were not as good as they are today. Many of my workmates weren't permanent and when they got close to getting permanency, their contracts weren't renewed. None of us thought this was fair as we all worked hard. An organiser from the union came out and discussed what it meant to join together to achieve better wages and conditions that give us certainty in our daily lives. Through joining our union, we created a stable working life and ensured that those who follow us into education will have the same. Being a union member means contributing to what my work looks like. I know that having a say in negotiations means that when something isn't right, members join together to get the job done. Outside of work, my husband and I are currently renovating our old returned serviceman's cottage. We love our garden and have a productive patch with many fruit and nut trees and two massive vegetable patches.

  • Last year at negotiations we received a substantial weekly pay increase. This was vital to a majority of us as making ends meet is difficult due to the ever-increasing cost of living. What this means is we can spend more time with our loved ones instead of having to get a second or even third job just to provide for our families. I believe the only way to have a strong union is to stand with like-minded people who believe our union is member-led, financially viable into the future and, most of all, a place where members can get the support they need at their most vulnerable time. I want to re-establish strong, member-led workplaces so that when it comes to negotiations, we are supported and guided to achieve the best possible outcomes. United For You is the only way forward for the future of our union.

Bianca Cook

Aboriginal & Islander Education Officer | Western Australia North

  • I'm a proud Nyikina woman from the Kimberley region of WA, and I've been a UWU member for roughly four years. I work at Broome Senior High School as an Advanced Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer, and I'm currently involved in the First Nations Round Table and Bargaining Committee. I joined the union because I wanted to be part of something that looks after the forgotten, undervalued and overworked people of the workforce. To me, being a union member means being part of a family who help and look after one another. Outside of work, I'm a mother of six and a grandmother to one beautiful grandbaby. I love spending time with my family fishing, camping, watching my kids play basketball and football, and enjoying our Kimberley way of life. Most of all, I love spending time with my Elders and going bush. The one thing I want members to know about me is that I will fight if something isn't right.

  • One moment that stays with me is when the Aboriginal and Islander Career Pathway was finally signed off on. There are no words to fully describe how I felt. All I can say is that we had finally gotten a win for AIEOs, and it meant everything. Growing up in the Kimberley, I know what it is like to be forgotten about and how tough life really is in remote areas. Standing for election as a convention delegate is my way of speaking out for all of us mob and making sure everyone is doing the right thing by our members. This term, I want to push for more support around the cost of living and better resources for workers within the workplace. I'm supporting United For You because the name says it exactly how it is. United For You will stand up for you and your rights.

Stephanie Hanrahan

UWU Coordinator, Member Rights | Western Australia North

  • I've been a UWU member for 12 years and work at UWU in the Member Rights team. Before working at UWU, I worked at the State Industrial Commission. Of all the unions and their members I saw come through, the ones whose passion and resilience struck me the most were the UWU members working in education. So when an industrial officer vacancy at UWU arose, I jumped at it. Their union was the one I wanted to be part of. Union membership is about shifting power to people who may not usually hold it, and using that power to achieve meaningful, long-term change. I'm part of the Member Rights team, the team that supports members with advice and advocacy around their workplace issues. Every single week we make a difference for hundreds of members. Outside of work I have a two-year-old son. Motherhood is far better than I imagined but also far harder. I have always believed in the need for greater workplace flexibility for carers, so often women, but I'm now even more aware of what some people manage and the need for even more support. One thing I want members to know about me is that I care deeply about the future success of UWU and I genuinely believe that the future of all working people will be improved by the work of this union.

  • I believe passionately in the value of the work Member Rights does, and I know UWU members believe in it too. I'm standing for election to ensure members keep, and even improve, their access to Member Rights support. This term I want to keep working to ensure that regardless of the industry you work in, or whether you live in a metropolitan centre or regionally, if you're a union member you can get help when you need it. UWU has been a highly innovative and effective union with some huge wins under its belt. All of the people who have been part of that innovation and those wins are standing with United For You. United For You represents the future of successful union organising, and that is why I am proud to support it.

Wendy Hillier

Cleaner | Western Australia North

  • I work as a Cleaner at Clarkson Community High School in the public sector. I joined the union because I believe in equal rights in the workplace without prejudice, and that every worker deserves to be treated fairly. Being a union member means having that protection and that voice. A standout moment for me was the 2025 bargaining round, when members won pay rises from the Government. That was a great year, and it showed what we can achieve when we stand together. Outside of work I am a proud member of my community. One thing I want members to know about me is that I am here to stand up for what matters.

  • I want to advocate for all members' rights in the workplace because members and future members deserve the best pay rate possible. I am standing for election to be a strong voice for my fellow members. I'm supporting United For You because they stand up for fair pay and secure jobs for every worker, protect and grow strong public and community services, and make sure every member's voice is heard.

Tshering Zam

Carer, Aged Care | Western Australia North

  • I work as a Team Leader in the care industry and am a UWU member. I joined the union because I wanted support and protection at the workplace. Being a union member means having a voice and standing together. The union has helped many workers in the aged care sector by advocating for better pay and working conditions, and that matters deeply to me. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, and I also enjoy learning new things. One thing I want members to know about me is that I care about fairness and supporting others, and I am always willing to listen.

  • I want to represent my fellow members and make sure their voices are heard and their concerns are taken seriously.

I am supporting United For You because it focuses on unity, fairness and strong representation for workers.

Tandin Bidha

Carer, Aged Care | Western Australia North

  • I've been a UWU member for 3 years and work as a Care-giver at Baptistcare in the aged care industry. I first joined the union because I wanted support and protection at the workplace. I realised that having someone to stand with me and my coworkers gives us a stronger voice. I also believed that being part of a union would help ensure fair treatment and better conditions for everyone. Being a union member means solidarity and strength. It means we stand together, support each other and speak up when something isn't right. To me it is about fairness, respect and making sure our rights are protected. It also means being part of a community that cares about improving our workplace for everyone. Outside of work I value spending time with my family and close friends. I enjoy being involved in my community and supporting others where I can. I believe in building strong relationships, at home, at work and in the community. One thing I want members to know about me is that I am approachable and genuinely care. If you have a concern or idea, I will listen. I may not always have all the answers immediately, but I will always do my best to advocate for you and follow through.

  • There was a time when there were concerns about workload and staffing at my workplace. The union stepped in, listened to our concerns and raised the issue with management. With that support, changes were made that improved our working conditions. It showed me how powerful we are when we work together. I am standing for election because I want to represent our voices and make sure our concerns are heard at a higher level. I believe I can listen, communicate clearly and stand up for what matters to us. I want to contribute actively and help shape positive changes for our future. This term I want to help strengthen our collective voice and make sure members feel heard and supported, and that their concerns are taken seriously and acted on. United For You is supported because it reflects values of unity, fairness and putting members first. I believe in working together rather than being divided, and this team is focused on practical outcomes that benefit all members.

Pradipa Thapa

Carer, Aged Care | Western Australia North

  • I've been a UWU member for six years and I work as a care worker in aged care. I serve as a workplace delegate. I joined the union in 2019 when I started my career in aged care. I thought so many things were going wrong and I didn't know where to report it. When I went to management they would brush it under the carpet. Then I met a union organiser and knew straight away I needed to be a delegate. I just wanted to be the voice for the voiceless. That's what being a union member means to me: being a voice for the voiceless.

  • With the help of the union, we were able to win the 28% pay rise for aged care workers. For years the aged care industry was neglected, but we went to the government and won big. Everybody felt empowered and saw how important it is to be union. I'm standing for election as a convention delegate because I want to be a strong voice for my community and make sure everyday people are represented in the decisions that shape our future. I want to keep our union strong for what's ahead. I'm supporting United For You because I know they are the team that will fight hard and win.

Gayle Bosenberg

School Cleaner | Western Australia North

  • I have been a UWU member for 18 years and work as a Cleaner in Charge at Clarkson Community High School, where I serve as a Delegate. I first joined the union when I became Cleaner in Charge. I had noticed many things that were wrong and needed improving in the education cleaning sector. I wanted to and believed I could be a voice and work towards much improved changes with better working conditions to support cleaners on the floor. I was determined to see cleaners valued with better recognition for the service cleaners perform each and every day at their work sites. During my free time outside of work I'm a huge West Coast Eagles supporter attending every home game, through sunshine and rain. Apart from AFL I'm always busy with family, and when time permits I love to frequent live theatre shows with my friends.

  • I have seen many changes during my 18 years as a union member. Being a part of the Enterprise Bargaining team was a major learning experience. There have been many successes I could mention, however the greatest achievement was securing the highest ever hourly wage increase for WA Public Sector workers which for the first time addressed cost of living issues.

I have decided to run for the United For You team to make a difference in the way our union is seen in the public arena. We are not striking or using bullying tactics to achieve outcomes, as often portrayed in the media. I want to see a more open, committed, accountable action group of union organisers and members taking up the fight for our members.

I want for our members a union that is compassionate, works with and listens to its members, not afraid as a united force to take the fight forward to achieve the best possible outcomes, to build strength with trust, openness, and transparency in all matters related to our union.

Shirely Brightwell

Patient Support Assistant | Western Australia North

  • I work as a PSA (Patient Support Assistant) at Graylands Hospital in the Public Sector. I first joined the union for job security. Being a union member means solidarity, unity, and security. I'm an elderly mum in age care. I love visiting my grandkids and daughter, and I love Scarborough, Sorrento, and Korean movies, series, and music.

  • When Mark McGowan was in the union, members received a substantial pay rise. Roger Cook increased it in the next EBA. My fellow workers and members were extremely happy, especially the levels 1/2 as they are the lowest paid in hospitals. I am standing for election to make sure union leadership is transparent and accountable to our members. I want to achieve better EBA conditions and increase in pay, close to the cost of living cutoffs. I am supporting United For You because I believe in unity, fairness, and working together to support all members.

Syazwani Brautigam

Education Assistant | Western Australia North

  • I work as a Mainstream Education Assistant at the Department of Education, where I serve as a Delegate. My passionate husband convinced me to join the union and I ended up falling in love with it. Being a union member means standing for yourself and your rights, and helping and supporting each other. I love video games and am currently playing Resident Evil 9. I'm a massive cat and Hello Kitty lover. I have one beautiful cat named Sylvie. I'm very passionate about listening and fighting for my members and ensuring a fair and happy workplace environment for them.

  • I want to be a strong voice for the community and empower each other. I want to achieve more wins for our sector, more rights for what we do, and acknowledgement for how hard we work. I am supporting United For You because of their financial accountability and their stronger members' rights team.

Karma Wangmo

Carer, Aged Care | Western Australia North

  • I've been a UWU member for almost three years and I work as a carer at Regis Woodlands in the aged care sector. I serve as a workplace delegate. I joined the union because I wanted to help all my friends at work who hadn't been treated fairly. Being a union member means having collective strength, workplace protection, and advocacy for better conditions. It is a commitment to solidarity and ensuring workers have a voice, resulting in higher wages and a safer environment. One thing I want members to know is that I care deeply about standing up for my workmates and making sure everyone is treated with justice at work.

  • I'm standing for election as a convention delegate because I want to keep making a difference for workers like me and my workmates in aged care. I'm supporting United For You because I believe in a union that fights for fair treatment and gives every worker a voice.
