Meet Your Team

I have been with the union for over fifteen years, working across our member advice and support, our legal teams, and our organising and bargaining teams. I have led our member rights teams in providing support to thousands and thousands of members from across all industries when they need it most, when they are facing a disciplinary meeting, when their hours have been cut, when their wages have been stolen.

I have fought alongside and supported members with legal and organising support to win massive campaigns in industries like security, cleaning, manufacturing, and the casinos. I know how important it is that the union is there for members when they need it, there to provide the immediate support they need when they are facing a crisis at work, and there with the on-site support and resources they need to win massive campaigns. I am standing to fight for a union that has members' backs when they need it.

I am an early childhood educator and have been a union member for close to fifteen, sixteen years. I have been an active member for pretty much most of that time. One of my proudest moments would be helping ECEC win our pay rise, which we did recently. There has been a lot of campaigning over the years to achieve that goal, along with all the other educators.

I believe it is important for everyone to have a voice. We are a very diverse union, and we need everyone from every area to get a full understanding of who we represent and how we can best support them in the future.

Many of you will know me as Mo. I am a proud United Workers Union member and have been for more than twenty years. I joined the union back in 2003. I have been a delegate now for more than ten years. Members will know that I fight really hard to protect the jobs and rights of our members here at Melbourne Airport.

I believe our union must remain a members-run union. I can assure you, more than twenty years with this union, it is a member-run union and it is a union that puts members first. In order for our union to be a members-run union, it is very important that members' money is not wasted and members' money is used responsibly. If members' money is wasted, then we're going to lose organisers, we're going to lose coordinators, we're going to lose lawyers, we're going to lose highly skilled union officials because money is being wasted and our union cannot afford to keep them.
There is a risk at the moment that there are some within our union that want to change the direction of the union to ensure that it's not a member-run union. In order for our union to remain a members-run union, we must keep the current leadership group led by Jo Schofield. I am asking for your vote for this election to ensure that our union can support and fight for our members.
