Meet Your Team

Lucinda Greed

Centre Director, ECEC | Victoria South West

  • I've been a UWU member for over 15 years. I work as a centre director at Goodstart in early childhood education and care. I first joined when a union delegate came to the centre and talked about the benefits of being part of the union, and it all felt important. Being a union member means having a louder voice and feeling supported.

I believe everyone should have a voice and the right to be listened to.

Outside of work, I have a wonderful partner and a dog that I treat like my daughter. We are currently renovating the house, so that takes up a lot of my time.

  • The union pushed and supported the government to provide us with a 15% wage increase, and that made a real difference. I'm a proud union member and I'm standing for election because I would like to support others to have a voice.

I want members to feel like they have a voice too and that they are being heard. I'm supporting the United For You ticket because I believe in what this team stands for.

Bindi Smith

UWU Coordinator, ECEC | Melbourne North West

  • I've been a proud UWU member for 21 years. I currently work as a National Coordinator in early childhood education and care, but my union journey started on the floor as an educator.

Over the years, being a union member has meant different things to me. At first it was about standing up for myself. Then it became about making sure children had the best educators possible.

Now I see it as my responsibility to support delegates, lift up the next generation, and make sure we always have a seat at the table when decisions are being made about our work and our lives.

Outside of work, I have a beautiful family. My wife, my birth child, and my awesome big kid. We are a proud rainbow family living in an urban country town. I love playing women's cricket, cheering on the Bombers, and listening to Dolly Parton.

  • I'm standing for election because as a qualified educator and now a union official, I want to make sure our union is run by members and experienced people with lived expertise.

I bring both shop floor experience as a worker, educator, and delegate, and the knowledge that comes from years of winning for members. I want a union that keeps winning, that puts members' issues first in the workplace, in our communities, and on the political agenda. I want delegates front and centre at every meeting, and I want diversity every step of the way, because all people, no matter where they come from, who they love, or even who they barrack for, deserve decent wages and conditions.

I'm standing with United For You because this is the team that takes on real issues for workers, makes good decisions with members' money, and puts honesty, integrity, and heart at the centre of what the union means. I trust this team and I trust the delegates to lead a powerful union.

Noah Ward

Cleaner | Melbourne North West

  • I've been a UWU member for two years. I work as a school cleaner with Serco, and I serve as a delegate. I joined because I wanted to make sure I was being advocated for, that I was paid correctly, and also because I wanted to make a difference, not just for myself but for all of my colleagues who are doing it tough.

Being a union member means better working conditions, pay that is commensurate with the scope of work, proper working and cleaning equipment, and not having to face the towering bureaucracy of the employer for the most simple of problems or requests. Being in a union is not facing things on your own. It is dealing with workplace hazards as a collective, as a union.

  • Our union has secured many victories in the two years I've been working as a cleaner. Multi-employer bargaining, getting our back pay, and one of the biggest victories was when we secured in-house cleaning for school cleaners in the ACT and New South Wales.

I'm standing for election because I have a profound sense of justice and I simply cannot stand idly by while school cleaners, airport workers, security guards, and others in their respective industries continue to have their rights eroded or disregarded.

I'm supporting the United For You ticket because this is the team that delivers.

Kazim Shah

UWU Organiser | Melbourne North West

  • I've been a UWU member for 14 years. I currently work as an official with the United Workers Union, but I first joined the union as a security guard. After being heavily involved in EBA campaigns, I became a union organiser.

Since COVID, I have had the privilege of working with our Melbourne Airport delegates, where we have had massive wins.

  • Seeing our members stand up and win, and seeing Melbourne Airport become a union airport, has been one of my proudest achievements. I am standing with United For You because I know that dedication to our delegates and members, combined with hard work, pays off.
