We’re United For NSW
Our candidates are workplace delegates, union activists, and everyday members who share one thing in common: a commitment to building a stronger union for you.
Sydney North West
These are the delegates, members and activists who are standing up for UWU members across the Sydney North West. They come from your workplaces and your industries. They know the challenges you face because they face them too.
They're ready to fight for a union that wins for you, picks up the phone when you need help, and puts more money in your pocket.

I first joined the Missos nearly 40 years ago, back when the fees were something like $3 a fortnight. Even when I was between jobs, I kept paying my fees because I believe in the union. That's what I tell everyone I speak to. You need to be with us. If we don't have the members, you won't get the benefits. I've always been very strong on growing our union and making sure we are there for each other. I got most involved in the union when the government sold Home Care, because there was a better union presence in aged care than in child care at that time. Work is getting more and more complicated, and we need to stick together to make sure we have a voice to be heard. Outside of work, I am a proud Indigenous woman. One thing I want everyone to know is that I'll back our members no matter what.
-
Together, our union has transformed these industries, even though our home care workers cannot go on strike. We fight not just for ourselves, we are fighting for our clients too. We need a voice in politics so they don't just chuck money at things. The world is changing whether we like it or not, and we need to hold the government accountable. I am standing because it is time Indigenous people stood up for their rights. I want to work with our union members as an Indigenous representative to win for all of us. We don't want anything different from anyone else, we just want recognition and respect for our culture. We need a voice and recognition, both in workplaces and in our wider society. We need to get back to what this union is about. A union is not one person, it is the collective. It is workers united to make sure that the whole system is fair, and to make sure there is always someone there to support you.

I've been a UWU member for 15 years. I work as a dealer in table games at Star Sydney in the casino industry. I first joined the union to get better EA conditions and to have stronger power at the Star. Being a union member means I've got my union to back me up for any workplace issue. One thing I want members to know is that I care about making sure casino workers stick together and support each other.
-
The union fought for me to get my preferred morning shift, and it became permanent. They also won better pay increases every year for everyone. I'm standing for election because I want to see all NSW casino members much more united and supporting each other at the upcoming election. I want to contribute in a better way and have a voice at the convention.

I work as a Guest Support Manager at the Star Casino in Sydney. With the company bound by heavy regulations from the state government, I wanted to protect myself and the people I work with from unexpected events, so I joined the union. Being a UWU member gives me a piece of security and assurance. I can be confident that my voice will be heard and passed on to the relevant people in the company if I really want to speak up for a cause. Outside of work, I'm responsible for raising three children with my wife and I try to give as much of my personal time to my family as possible. One thing I want members to know about me is that I will give my best for any task I've been given.
-
I remember being under investigation when I was just performing my everyday duties. The company was overhauling my department's performance and everyone was shaken up by the sudden stance management took. I never felt more proud of being a union member than when the union supported me mentally and physically through that process. I'm standing for election as a convention delegate because I believe the union needs to keep its voice strong in the casino industry. I want to be a good helping hand whenever a colleague needs guidance through difficult circumstances. I'm supporting United For You because I believe in a union that stands up for its members when it matters most.

I've been a UWU member for 20 years. I work as a dealer in table games at Star Casino in the casinos and clubs industry. I joined the union to ensure fair treatment and a better workplace for everyone, with more benefits. Being a union member means job security and more protection at work. Outside of work, I have a big family with four kids and six grandkids, and I care about the union's campaigns which have helped my family members. One thing I want members to know about me is that I am always honest, reliable, and I care about others.
-
The union helped me get my preferred shift and helped my brother as well. The union also helped all workers get a good pay rise and better conditions. I'm standing for election because I want to be a voice for NSW casino members and to contribute more in the future. I want all workers to get equal and fair treatment at work, to make my workplace much better, and to ensure everyone's safety at work.

I've been a UWU member for four years and I'm a delegate at Officeworks North Rocks in the logistics industry, where I work as a storeperson. Throughout all of my life I have always considered myself to be a people person. I've always felt this need to go out and help people, whether that is in my role as a delegate or not. People in my life know that I am always there with a kind and sympathetic ear, ready to listen. Unions have always been a big part of my life. My family is a union family and it's always been something I have instilled in my grandchildren and children. My husband was a delegate, so I constantly went to functions around unions. I got to see the real community there was around the union and the power there was in being together. He would always come home and tell me his stories of standing up for people and the unity his worksite had. It was really inspiring, so the second I had the chance, I joined. Being a union member means being united together and through that having a representative voice. It means being there for each other through some of the most difficult times any worker could face, and celebrating the wins with a group of people who will always have your back. Outside of work, I am a huge South Sydney Rabbitohs fan and have been since we came back into the competition. The club and the community around it is just fantastic. Like many other Bunnies fans, our family is always at the games and it's a part of our family's history. One thing I want members to know is that I am always helpful, considerate, and ready to listen.
-
Our last EBA was fantastic. We spent the last four years building our union strong to make sure we were able to win the largest pay rise the site has ever seen, and it really made a difference to us and our workmates. I'm standing for election because I want our union to be united and to actually be run for the members. I want to help our union become unified and stronger, more financially responsible with members' money. As is my goal at my site, unity is really important, especially within our union. United For You means exactly what it says and that is powerful. When we are united there is nothing that can stop us, and the plan that United For You has will see our union finally unified again and start becoming stronger. That's why I'm supporting United For You.

I've been a UWU member for 10 years and I'm a delegate at Metcash IGA Dry in Huntingwood, where I work as a storeperson across the ALM section, loading, dispatching, and forklift operations. When I first came to Metcash I joined the union straight away. Before that I'd worked at Arnott's as a casual and at Woolworths in retail. The union is important to me because I like helping people and getting people to the right place within the company. As a newer delegate, I am learning that there is a lot more than just individual issues. We have a strong union majority on site and can make real change together. Outside of work, I'm a strong Christian and a proud member of my local Australian-Tongan community. With my family, I feed homeless and disadvantaged people at our local train stations. People are doing it tough at the moment, we are all feeling it, and giving what I can with my family is important to me. I want members to know that I want to do more to help create a better union, and I'll always do my best.
-
Last year's bargaining was my first experience being directly involved, and it was eye-opening to sit with other delegates with the bosses across the table. I learned a lot from my fellow delegates, especially Aidan and Rhianan. When the company agreed to our pay claim and backpay, it was an amazing feeling. We did that. We are there for members. The agreement has just been signed off. I'm standing for this election because I want more experience and to absorb as much as I can for the future. Over the next few years it's so important to be a united team and to stand tall and strong. We must be responsible with members' money and resources and choose battles we can win. I'm supporting United For You because I believe in standing together to make real change.

I've been a UWU member for 21 years. I work as a process and manufacturing worker at Bega Cheese in Penrith, in the food and beverage industry, and I'm a delegate at my workplace. I was a member of the TWU back in 1995 and joined the NUW (now UWU) in 2005 because I found this union much stronger and more powerful for members. Being a union member means standing united and having each other's back against the company to fight for our rights.
-
Nearly 20 years ago, we won a 26% pay rise over three years and better redundancy conditions. It was a historical union win for all workers, and it showed me what we can achieve when we stick together. I'm standing for election because I want to get our voices heard and I want all NSW members to trust our union.

I've been a UWU member for four years and I'm a delegate at Ingram Micro in Eastern Creek, where I work as a storeperson in the logistics industry. I joined the union because I needed protection at work and wanted to help others. As a working-class person, the union is part of my life. The union is a solution for workers. It can make a difference for me and for our future generation.
-
We've got very good pay rises and good conditions in every EA for the last 20 years negotiated by United Workers Union. I'm standing for election because I would like to take my responsibility to the next level. I want my kids to have the same things I've achieved through my union. I want to contribute in a better way for our union to continue to achieve big wins for members and their families.

I've been a UWU member for 15 years and I'm a delegate at Coles CDC in Eastern Creek, where I work as a storeperson and forklift driver in the logistics industry. I joined UWU because I wasn't happy with the other union I was a member of before. Being a union member means job security and a strong voice at the workplace.
-
The union made a real difference for me by winning better conditions for me to do afternoon shift, and better pay for everyone on site. I'm standing for election to support NSW members and to have a better voice for NSW.

I've been a UWU member for four years and I'm a delegate at Metcash Huntingwood, where I work as a storeperson in the logistics industry. I joined the union because I saw the strength and unity amongst my workmates who were in the union. Being a union member means I am part of the solutions and part of the fight for better workplace rights.

Union mass meetings where members chant together to make a difference for all workers showed me the real power of standing together. I'm standing for election because I want to support NSW members more and be a voice for our NSW members.

I've been a UWU member for 10 years, since day one on the job. My mum always said to join the union, and she worked in food and beverage too. I approached my union rep the first day at Lite 'n' Easy and I've been a member ever since. I'm a delegate at my site, where we send out more than 6,000 ready-made meals a day. Being in the union is a protection for me and helps us have a voice, with union members beside us in the workplace. Outside of work, I love being a netball nanna to my grandkids every weekend, making sure they stay healthy and active. I also do a lot of volunteer work helping fundraise for breast cancer charity, in memory of my dear late sister. I want members to know that as a delegate and as a candidate, it's all about you. My power comes from you.
-
In the last year, we got a better bargaining agreement because we stuck together as union members. We all fought to make sure the machine operators on site got double their previous allowance, and we made sure all workers on site got the same paid breaks so that one shift was no longer disadvantaged by a shorter break. That makes a big difference in a 10 hour shift. I'm standing in this election because I believe members deserve to be treated fairly and able to get what we deserve. I will fight all the way to the end for my people, because doing the right thing is why I'm union. Looking forward, I want our union winning better bargaining outcomes. I want to see more of us standing together and doing the right thing by members. If we don't trust other members and our union office, we have nothing. And if the union isn't run responsibly across all industries, we might not have the resources to fight and win in my workplace. We must stand together, United For You.

I've been a UWU member for 27 years and I work at Tooheys Brewery in Lidcombe as a process and manufacturing worker. I currently serve as a workplace delegate and health and safety representative. I first joined the union to help other workers and improve work conditions for all of us. Being a union member means safety at work and supporting each other.
-
During EBA negotiations a few years ago, the company wanted us to go on strike, knowing it could divide the workforce if not everyone walked out. Instead, we stayed united and managed to win a huge outcome collectively without striking. That experience showed me the power of sticking together. I'm standing for election as a convention delegate because I want to support all members and continue building our unity for big wins. I'm supporting United For You because I believe in a union where members stand together and fight for real results.

I first joined the union when I started working at Woolworths Yennora. I didn't understand what a union was until I started there. In my first week, we were out on the grass fighting for better wages and conditions, and I thought to myself, so this is what it's all about. Being a union member means I'm part of something that creates a better future for the next generations to come. Outside of work, I have three adult kids and two grandbabies. I love to travel and I love making a difference. For my son's 21st, his wish was to go to Japan, so that's what we did. My eldest wanted to jump out of a plane with 10 family members, so again, that's what we did. My daughter wants the big party, so we'll be honouring her wish in two years. I was also a rugby league coach for my son's team from age 12 to 15. We fundraised for the whole team to travel to Queensland for a week at Tamborine Mountain and took them to all the theme parks. One thing I want members to know is that I will always do my absolute best to get the greatest outcome. Even if I have to open every door and they all close, I will always find a solution.
-
One moment that stays close to my heart is our ongoing fight for casual workers' long service leave after 10 years. We've been persevering for six years now, and in the last year, with the help of Sharon and Sean, I can safely say we're heading in the right direction. We're waiting for our day in court this April, and I'm so grateful to be at this stage with our members. I'm standing for election as a convention delegate because I wholeheartedly want what's best for all. I want to give people the drive to reach their potential in a harmonious, humble way. I want people to feel safe to use their voice, because it matters. I'm supporting United For You because they have always supported me and everyone I love and care about.

I have been a school cleaner for 14 years and the conditions under the contract cleaning model get worse every time there is a tender. That's why I became a delegate and an HSR. I believe in UWU and I believe in supporting my fellow workers. Together with my colleagues and the union we have been fighting to improve cleaning for the members. But the contract system is broken and we see the only option is being directly employed by the NSW government.
-
I see what we have achieved so far in getting a commitment from the government to insourced all school cleaning in NSW. I see that it has already started in one area. I believe we can get the rest of the state insourced. If we have a well run political campaign. And United for You are the only ones with a plan to win utilising political campaigning.
There is really only one choice for school cleaners in NSW - United for You
