We went into the formation of the United Workers Union open, committed and dedicated to making it work. And we've had some real successes. Together with members we've built campaigns that have transformed entire sectors. We've secured wage increases in early education, aged care, public sector that show what's possible when we use every tool available to us.

We've delivered insourced jobs, record-breaking pay rises, job protection, and we’re on a path to win for everyone.

We want the United Workers Union to be strong today, tomorrow and into the future, so we’ve brought the union's finances back under control after years of budget blowouts, so we can win for all members.

How did we get here?

  • But we've also learned some hard lessons. Not everything has worked the way we hoped. Unfortunately, some people were more interested in grievances and disruption than working together in the interests of the union and our members.

    We believe in our union. We believe in our members. And we believe in the promise of what this union can be when we work together.

    That's why we're standing in this election. Not to protect the way things are, but to keep building something better. A union that wins for you, that listens to you, and that's ready for the challenges ahead.

    This is a choice about the future. We can keep building a modern, member focused union that delivers real results. Or we can go backwards to old approaches that sound good but leave members without support when they need it most.
